Statement on the 2015 Supreme Court Ruling on Same-Sex Marriage

On June 26th the United States Supreme Court laid to rest all debate about same-sex marriage rights in the U.S. In a ruling relying on the 14th Amendment’s guaranty of equal justice under the law, the court said all loving relationships are alike in dignity and that citizens are entitled to equal access to the advantages of a state-sanctioned marriage regardless of sexual orientation.

June 2015 - TLC Tugger applauds our nation's new enlightenment

TLC Tugger’s comment:

We applaud the court for its wisdom and congratulate the plaintiffs. We celebrate with all Americans for a victory that makes us a better nation.

To our gay friends who have waited for this day, we sincerely apologize. We entered into a marriage in Will County, Illinois in 1990, while the privilege to do so was not equally available to all. This was wrong and regrettable and selfish. While we have worked fervently for marriage equality in the meantime, all we can say at this time is that we are sorry about the past.

Thank you for your patience with us and with our nation.

We hope everyone will celebrate with us by putting our unique rainbow equality sticker (offered here below cost) on their vehicle or window. We also selfishly hope that the court’s attention to the 14th amendment bodes well for eventual recognition of the right to equal protection from forced genital cutting for children of all genders.

Sincerely,
